Gavin’s professional career began in the early 1980’s when he became involved in the day-to-day operations of a family-controlled group of companies which held interests in several business sectors, including consumer electronics. Between 1988 and 1991 he ran Count International Broking, an importer and broker for a broad spectrum of goods ranging from consumer electronics to housewares, footwear and clothing.  Gavin’s entry into the cellular arena began in 1994 when he established DDM Cellular. The company acted as an importer and distributor of cellular telephones and accessories. The company was eventually incorporated with Star Call, under the banner of Euro Point Communications SA. Gavin was directly responsible for growing the company from an unknown entity to the leading cellular accessory business in South Africa. From there he moved on to found the Richmark Group in 2000.
